Introducing the UniRocketeers World Championship 2024!

With Epic Games’ CRL World Championship on indefinite hiatus, UniRocketeers are stepping up to provide the collegiate Rocket League community with a groundbreaking new event.

UR Worlds 2024 will be an online international tournament, featuring the best collegiate Rocket League teams from around the World. For the first time ever, collegiate teams from EU and NA will be joined by representatives from MENA, OCE, SAM and SSA.

The competition will consist of Regional Qualifiers on 21st & 28th July, followed by a Main Event on 10th & 11th August. The Event will be broadcast on the UniRocketeers Twitch channel as well as via Team Streams.

UR Worlds is a passion-project run entirely by volunteers. An initial prize pool of $600 has been provided by UniRocketeers’ Director, James “Cinereous” Coleman-Evans. Viewers will be able to make supplementary donations to the Prizepool via the tournament’s GoFundMe page.

Cinereous commented: “The collegiate Rocket League community has given us all so many great experiences over the last 6 years and this tournament is our way of giving something back.“

“We may not have the resources to produce a like-for-like replacement for CRL, so we’ve instead focused on creating an exciting event with our own unique spin. With the addition of 4 new regions, UR Worlds 2024 will be open to institutions from 146 countries – more than any other collegiate esports event in history.”

Teams must consist of students from the same university. A full breakdown of the rules and tournament structure can be found here.

Sign-Ups are open now. To find out more information about the tournament, make sure to join the UniRocketeers Discord.

Format and Schedule

Four Teams have been invited directly to the Main Event due to their record in previous UniRocketeers and CRL events.

🇩🇪 Dr. Buhmann Academy (ZeddoPzyFabso)
🇮🇹 University of Genoa (HyderrDead-MonsterarjuBarist)
🇺🇸 Boise State University (durthoPRSTNwuzy)
🇺🇸 Ball State University (OathGuhWovah)

The remaining 12 Teams in UR Worlds will be decided through Regional Qualifiers open to all eligible institutions.

Regional Qualifiers – MENA, OCE, SAM & SSA

Open Qualifiers

Each Open Qualifier will consist of a Double Elimination Bracket. The Winning Team from each Open Qualifier will progress to UR Worlds.

  • OCE: Sunday 21st July – 02:00 EDT / 08:00 CEST
  • MENA: Sunday 21st July – 09:00 EDT / 15:00 CEST
  • SSA: Sunday 21st July – 09:00 EDT / 15:00 CEST
  • SAM: Sunday 21st July – 13:00 EDT / 19:00 CEST

Regional Qualifiers – EU & NA

Due to the much higher volume of Teams competing in Europe and North America, we have added some extra stages to the Qualifiers in those Regions.

Same School Qualifiers (SSQ)

Institutions competing in Europe or North America are only permitted to enter 1 Team into UR Worlds. Therefore, if multiple Teams from the same Institution register for the Open Qualifier, they will first be entered into a Same School Qualifier (SSQ).

Each Institution’s SSQ will consist of a Single Elimination Bracket. The Winning Team from each Institution will progress to the Open Qualifier.

  • EU: Saturday 20th July – 09:00 EDT / 15:00 CEST
  • NA: Saturday 20th July – 13:00 EDT / 19:00 CEST

Open Qualifiers

Each Open Qualifier will consist of a Double Elimination Bracket. The Top 16 Teams from each Open Qualifier will progress to the Closed Qualifier.

  • EU: Sunday 21st July – 09:00 EDT / 15:00 CEST
  • NA: Sunday 21st July – 13:00 EDT / 19:00 CEST

Closed Qualifiers

Each Closed Qualifier will consist of a Double Elimination Bracket with 16 Teams. The Top 4 Teams from each Closed Qualifier will progress to UR Worlds.

  • EU: Sunday 28th July – 09:00 EDT / 15:00 CEST
  • NA: Sunday 28th July – 13:00 EDT / 19:00 CEST

Main Event

UR Worlds will take place on the weekend of 10th-11th August. It will consist of 2 Stages: the Swiss Stage and Playoffs.

Cross-Region match-ups will be played on neutral servers. If no neutral server exists (e.g. EU vs. NA-East) then the match will be played on alternating servers (e.g. Game 1: EU, Game 2: NA, etc.).

The Swiss Stage will contain 16 Teams competing in an RLCS-Style Swiss Bracket. All matches will be Best-of-5 (Bo5). Teams ending the Swiss Stage with a positive record (3-0, 3-1, or 3-2) will progress to the Playoffs, while Teams with a negative record (2-3, 1-3 or 0-3) will be eliminated.

The Playoffs will feature the Final 8 Teams competing in a Single Elimination Bracket. All matches will be Best-of-7 (Bo7). The winner will be crowned UniRocketeers World Champions 2024!

Broadcasting

The Main Event will be broadcast in English on the UniRocketeers Twitch channel. We will also be working with Partners to organise alternate language coverage.

Teams can apply to broadcast their runs through the Regional Qualifiers and Swiss Stage by filling out our Broadcast Application Form. A full list of approved broadcasts will be published before each stage of the event.

Sign-Ups for the UniRocketeers World Championship are now open. Registration closes at 17:00 EDT / 23:00 CEST on Friday 19th July, so don’t be late!
